Datacare Software Group Honoured at DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Awards
February 8, 2006 - DUBLIN - Monaghan-based Datacare Software Group was honoured at the DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Award ceremony today. Datacare Software Group was one of five finalists for the Award who were recognised for outstanding success in their exporting efforts.
As one of the five finalists in the 2005 DHL Export Awards, which is the most prestigious awards scheme for SMEs in Ireland, Datacare Software Group was presented with a specially commissioned trophy by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Michéal Martin, TD. The overall winner of the DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Award was ChangingWorlds, a leading provider of intelligent mobile communication portals and personalisation technology.
Presenting the DHL Export Awards, Minister Martin said, "ChangingWorlds and the other four Irish-owned companies receiving awards here today are to be congratulated for their leadership within their sector. I can see that in each case innovation and investment in R&D has been critical to their success and has enabled them to exploit new opportunities and to move on to the next phase of their development."

Datacare Software Group develops software that helps companies comply with entity management and corporate governance regulations. Datacare’s customers include Coca-Cola, Shell, Ford, ING Bank, and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Datacare’s main software package, Global Corporate Manager, enables company secretaries and others meet their corporate compliance obligations across local, national and international boundaries. The company generates 95 per cent of its revenue from exports and its main export markets include the US, Canada, UK, Germany and the Benelux countries, with one of its international banking clients using its software in over 30 countries.
Founded in 1983, Datacare made its major breakthrough in 1986 when it developed software that helped companies make filings in accordance with a new EU directive.
In 1995, it became the first company to market a Windows-based records system to the Irish and UK markets, and also the first to electronically file forms to Company Registration Offices in Ireland and the UK. In 1998, it broke into the Canadian market and it now provides more than 400 customers throughout the world with Windows-based and Web-based products.
The company employs over 50 people and has offices in London, New York, Toronto and Germany. It is headquartered in Monaghan town.

This was the twelfth year of the DHL Export Awards, which were established to recognise Irish companies who demonstrate excellence in their exporting efforts. The Awards also aim to develop public awareness of the vital role that small businesses play in the continuing economic development of Ireland.
The judging panel for the 2005 DHL Export Awards included Pat Delaney, Small Firms Association; Des Doyle, Enterprise Ireland; John Whelan, Irish Exporters Association; John Dunne, Chambers Ireland, and Bernard McCarthy, DHL.
